nudgeby

Support

A gentle nudge as you pass by. Nudgeby rings when you get near a place you chose, so you can rest on the train or bus and not miss your stop. It can also remind you of errands when you're near a shop.

Need help? Email hello@digitaldot.com.sg. If an alarm didn't ring, please attach a diagnostics file (see below). We usually reply within 2 working days.

Getting started

  1. Pick a place. Search for it or tap the map.
  2. Set the alert circle. Nudgeby rings when you enter it. 1 km is a good start on trains and buses; anywhere from 250 m to 3 km works.
  3. Add a time backup (optional). A normal alarm at a time you choose, in case the location alert comes late.
  4. Tap Activate and rest. When it rings, Stop means you've arrived (it also cancels the backup); Snooze rings again shortly.

Only one journey can be active at a time. Saved places make regular trips one tap.

Errands near places

Add a place (for example your local supermarket) and the items you need there. Nudgeby reminds you when you're there, after a short stay of about 2 minutes, or as you're passing nearby, if you choose that. Reminders wait while a journey alarm is active and during quiet hours (22:00–07:00 by default). You can switch errands off completely in Settings → Errands near places; your lists are kept.

If an alarm didn't ring or came late

Nudgeby relies on your phone's location service, which saves battery by checking less often when you move fast or have weak signal. Most missed or late alarms come from one of these:

Location isn't set to "Always"

iPhone: Settings → Nudgeby → Location → Always, with Precise Location on. Android: Settings → Apps → Nudgeby → Permissions → Location → Allow all the time, with Use precise location on.

Battery saving stops Nudgeby in the background (Android)

Set Nudgeby's battery use to Unrestricted (Settings → Apps → Nudgeby → Battery). Some phones (ASUS, realme, Xiaomi, OPPO, Samsung and others) have extra "auto-launch" or "sleeping apps" lists; allow Nudgeby there too. dontkillmyapp.com has steps for each brand.

The app was force-stopped or swiped away (Android) / Background App Refresh is off (iPhone)

On Android, Force stop cancels every alarm until you open Nudgeby again. Swiping it from recent apps is usually fine, but some brands treat it like a force stop. On iPhone, keep Settings → General → Background App Refresh on for Nudgeby.

Silent mode, Do Not Disturb or Focus

Nudgeby uses alarm sound and full-screen alerts, but some Focus settings can still hide it. Allow Nudgeby in your Focus or Do Not Disturb exceptions, and check that alarm volume is up.

The circle was too small for a fast train or bus

On fast or underground lines the phone may only notice you've arrived after you're well inside the circle. Use 1–2 km and add a time backup for important stops.

The phone was off, out of battery or had no location signal

No app can ring then. The time backup alarm helps if the location alert can't fire.

Before an important trip, use Help → Check alarm readiness in the app: it lists anything that could stop an alarm.

Sending a diagnostics file

In the app, open Settings → Export diagnostics and share the file with us by email. It contains the last 7 days of alarm events, permission states and app/phone versions, but no locations, place names or search text. Nothing is sent unless you share it.

Common questions

Does Nudgeby track me or use a lot of battery?

No tracking: the phone only tells Nudgeby when you cross a circle you set. Battery use is low because the operating system does the watching. See the Privacy Policy.

Can I use miles instead of kilometres, or another language?

Yes: Settings → Distance units and Settings → Language. Nudgeby is available in 20 languages.

I got a new phone. Where are my saved places?

For privacy, Nudgeby's data is not included in phone backups or transfers, so saved places and errands don't move to a new phone. Please add them again.

How do I delete my data?

Settings → Delete all data removes everything and cancels all alarms. Uninstalling the app does the same.

Does it work without mobile data?

Searching for places and showing the map need a connection. Once a journey is active, the alarm works from your phone's location service even with weak or no data, as long as location is available.
